Week 98: Time is flying by

This week I have thinking a lot about service and what it means to serve. Service is really interesting because it is helping others without expecting anything back, but in all realisticness, as humans we all expect something back. But something that I have learned from being a missionary is that time runs fast and you can't keep track and you end up serving all the time and don't realize it. Then at some point, you figure out who you are and it is great because that is who God is molding you to be!

Last Monday we went out to a little hill and went hiking. It was super great and we could see the airport and all the planes taking off. Also we went down to some nice volcanic rocks and climbed on them! It was super awesome and we had a blast!

On Tuesday, we had a lot of meetings with investigators. So we studied in the morning and every hour we basically had an appointment. So we went from one place to another place and then met with some great people and when we had time at the end of the day we went out and talked to people and shared the gospel with them.

Wednesday was full of appointments as well. We went outside of a good chuck of the day and then instead of going to our service project we met with a less active and we had a great lesson and he is progressing in the gospel very much! Also we went outside and played some basketball with another less active that was leaving for America on Friday morning!

On Thursday, met with the member that was going to America on Sunday and talked with him and had some lunch with him and then we went and met another investigator and talked to him about the gospel and he super enjoyed it and then we helped some people come unto Christ as we talked to them on the street. After which we had English class and
English class is always a great way to serve others.

Friday was an exchange, so we had district meeting and then we had exchanges. I went with Elder Stewart and we were able to go outside and find some good people and then went to meet an investigator and then after all of that we went to play basketball with some of our
investigators! It was an extremely productive day!

Saturday, we went to a place caleld Jungmoon and played soccer with another branch on Jeju and then we started an exchange with our B team! so I went with Elder Seol and we went outside and talked to people and were able to really get to know tohers. Then we went and had some great food with a less active member and then we went to shinjeju and played some basketball with some more investigators and it was great!

On Sunday, I got to translate and we had a great time at church. Afterwards we watched 17 miracles with the branch and invited some investigators to come and watch and they did! Then we went home and then talked to some people and cleaned up the church a bit and then met with some members and had dinner!

Week 97: It is soooo hot

It has gotten so hot here in Jeju. I think the high last week was 38 degrees with 100 percent humidity... Whatever that is in Fahrenheit, but we are doing well and Missionary work is great!

I figured out... There are a lot of trials. There can be spiritual, physical, emotion trials for everyone. This week was more of a physical struggle due to various reasons, but the best thing is that you can feel rejuvenated. Just like this feeling, how great is it that when we get spiritually tired or have trials, God has given us ways to overcome this. It is wonderful!

This last week on Monday we didn't have P-day but we had our Zone Conference where our zone got to meet the New President. He is really focused on goal setting and planning and it was great! We were also able to interview with him and then after that we had the best family home evening with the college students that attend family home evening! We played some card games and everyone super got into it.

On Tuesday we had P-day and we went out to Seogwipo and went and looked at some waterfalls. It was raining and it was super hot, but it was awesome! After that we came back to Jejushi and then went to a less active's house and were able to have dinner with him and his family! It was a great time talking about family and the church.

Wednesday we studied and went outside and went and put hearts on some peoples doors and then we went out and talked to more people and then we went to the church and wrote out an action plan for an activity that we had coming up on Sunday. Then we went to our service project and then had a meeting with the missionaries and then we met with a member and then went home!

Thursday, we went outside early in the morning and inspected some of our zone members houses and then attacked a less active's front door with hearts. Then we went home and planned and then went outside and talked to people. So we did that the entire day until English and then we had a great English class and then we cleaned up and then went outside and talked to some more people with the rest of the time we had that day!

On Friday, We went outside and talked to a bunch of people the entire day. It was really hot, but it was awesome being able to talk to people and then met with various people! After that we went and played basketball with some people and then went on exchanges with the Elders in Seogwipo.

On Saturday, we went outside and talked to people and there were some great people. Then after that we met with some less actives and did our studies and then went out a little bit more and then came back to Jeju. After that we went and played basketball with some
investigators!

Sunday we had church and were able to talk to a lot of people. After talking a bunch of people and having some great classes we had a work shop for the members to do missionary work and they really liked it. After that we went outside and talked to people and then we had a little dinner and then went outside some more and talked to some great people!

Week 96: Exchanges!

This last week has been super humid.. If you were wondering about the weather!

This week I was able to learn a lot, but one thing that stood out to me was, God wants us to be happy and places people in our paths that can help us be happy. Life shouldn't be about worries and about sadness and we shouldn't need to drown out the sorrow with things of no worth. Life is about happiness. Although there is opposition, God wants us to be happy and because of this, he gives us families and friends and loved ones. He also gave us the gospel and sent his only Begotten son for us. How wonderful! :)

Last week on Monday, we climbed Halla mountain in the middle of a rain storm. Everything got super wet, including our phone and we had to get a new one. But it was a great experience. After that we came back and emailed and got changed and then went shopping. After all of this we had our family home evening and we played an ultimate game of spoons!

ON Tuesday we studied in the morning and then went outside and talked to people and had a really simple day. We went outside and talked to people and did some choir practice for our zone conference that was going to be held on the 17th and got to meet with some fantastic people.

On Wednesday, we studied in the morning and then went outside some more and it was a pretty good, and hot day so we were able to talk to a lot of people. then after that we went to our service project and then went to a members house and did something called a heart attack where you cut out paper hearts and put them on members doors! It was awesome!

On Thursday we were on exchanges and I went with Elder minson out to the middle of no where and visited some members houses and then we went outside and talked to a good amount of people. Then we met with a
semi less active young man and he super loves the missionaries so we went out to dinner and then had choir practice to end the day.

Friday was district meeting in Seogwipo and that was great! We were able to go and come back and then we studied and then went outside for most of the day. Afterwards we met with some recent converts and then
we had a missionary meeting and then we went out and played basketball with some kids. It was a great being able to play basketball with them and teach the gospel. Also it is super fun coaching kids and seeing their basketball skills increase.

On Saturday we went outside and talked to some people and then went to the church and cleaned and sung and then went out some more and tried to go visit some members houses, but we were unable to because they
weren't home. Then we kept talking to people on the street and then we went to the newer part of Jeju and played some basketball and met some people that want to learn more able the church and the gospel of Jesus Christ!

Sunday was packed and extremely busy. We had church and then we had our new mission president come and have a fireside and before that fireside we had a meeting with him and other church leaders. After that we went outside and talked to people and cleaned up the church and planned a little bit and then they came to our house at the end of the night and inspected our house.

Missionary work really brings so much joy and it is awesome!

Week 95: Happy Birthday America!!

This week was awesome! It is starting to go get really hot, but Jeju is great!

This week I was thinking about how I talk to people on the street about the gospel. Is it something that I try to bring up quickly and force the conversation, or am I being to passive? Are they feeling the spirit and God's love for them? While I was thinking that I was able to imagine the way the Savior would talk to us and feel the love he
would have for us. So as I go outside and try to love everyone and teach to their needs, they would be able to feel the spirit better! I love the Savior because he truly loves us.

Monday we went to a beach and played Frisbee and then to end the day we had family home evening and did yoga and then played some games!

On Tuesday, Happy 4th of July... So we had a district meeting and had lunch. I cooked steak and hot dogs and that was great! Then we went outside and talked to people and then had a meeting for missionaries and then after that we shared a message with the family that let us have dinner with them and then for the rest of the night, we went outside and talked to people about the gospel of Jesus Christ.

On Wednesday, we went outside and talked to people and were able to go to our service project! It is awesome being able to teach kids!

Thursday was going out to the newer part of Jeju and talking to people and going and meeting people and studying! It was awesome being able to walk around and meet such great people! After that we went to the
church and cleaned and then had English class! After English we went outside and talked to other people and that was Thursday.

On Friday we took a plane to Busan and had a meeting with the new Mission President! It was a great meeting and then we went on exchanges with the APs. It was great being able to learn and to talk to more people.

Saturday, we did the same thing and planned to meet some people and were able to meet with them and then we took a plane and came back to Jeju and met a new investigator! It was a great lesson and then we were able to go home!

On Sunday, we had church and were able to teach some classes and then we went to a meeting and then went and found some “less-actives."  After that we went home and then went outside again to go find some more
people!

This week was wonderful!

Love always,

Elder Joshua Wilson

Week 94: It rained and went back to Busan

It is great being here on Jeju! Something that I thought about while talking to other people this week was how much the gospel is true. I was able to have a conversation with a less active over text yesterday and he was complaining about the church and the hard times that he is having, and one thing that I was able to feel was his longing for love and comfort. So we were able to have a good discussion and he figured out again God's love for him because he said he was looking for the answers to his prayers and apparently through my words he figured it
out. So it was awesome! I love this gospel so much!

So Monday was P-day! We went outside and went out to eat and went bowling! After bowling we went home and took a nap and then went off to go email. We also went shopping and all that jazz and then we went to family home evening where we played a couple games and it was great!

On Tuesday, we went and helped a less active member getting ready to go to America. So we fixed him up with some church members in the States and he looks likes he wants to be active in the states! After that we had an appointment come up, so we went to lunch and had a great appointment with our member and then it started raining super hard so we went home and studied. After studying, we went out for the rest of the day and talked to other people.

Wednesday, we went and cleaned the outside of the church and did some yard work. We seemed to have touched something really weird so all of us got super itchy, but that is fine. Then we had a appointment punk us and then we had our service project. Afterwards we had our weekly coordination meeting and then we went outside for the rest of the day and talked to people on the street.

On Thursday, we studied in the morning and then we had another kid punk us, but that is okay because it was raining super hard!! It was insane!! So we went to the church for a little bit after talking to people outside and then we did some office work and then went outside some more. After that we had English Class and English class
was awesome! We had an investigator come and we were able to teach him afterwards!

Friday, we took off on a plane for Busan for a meeting in the morning, so we went out for a bit and talked to people and then had our meeting. After that we took a plane home and then went to play basketball with a whole bunch of people and were able to meet with new people and make new relationships.

On Saturday we had soccer in the morning and then a missionary meeting. After that we went out to eat and then went home and studied. After studying we went outside for a little bit and helped others come closer unto Christ and then came to the church to clean. After cleaning the church we went to go play badminton with our investigator and then we taught him and then we met with another person that is a less active!

On Sunday we had church and that was a great day! WE got to bless the sacrament for some people that were visiting from Hong Kong and then got to have some meetings and teach and it was awesome! Then for the rest of the day we went outside and talked to people and weekly planned!

This week was awesome!

Love Always,

Elder Joshua Wilson
